Summary of Duties: The Cashier is responsible for receiving and processing all payments made on accounts receivable. Will post personal payments, work up insurance batch for posting, maintain balanced cash drawer and sorting of mail.
Essential Functions:
1. Process return checks, notifying patient of the balance of the check plus check fee.
2. Receiving and processing for posting all payments made on accounts receivable at NRMC.
3. All personal payments will be processed and posted the day they are received.
4. Payment received from third-party payers will be opened, checks copied, a tape will be run on the checks, and again on the copies for balancing purposes and then taken to accounting for deposit.
5. Receipts will be written on payments received from outside collection agencies for accounts in bad debt. The statement will then be processed and sent to payment poster for posting.
6. Cash drawer is balanced daily. Any variances are recorded on that dal’s cash sheet as over/under cash.
7. Monies received from the Rural Health Clinics will be taken to accounting each morning. Accounting will unlock bags and Cashier will process payments.
8. Prepare outgoing mail before mailman comes in the morning. Sort incoming mail pulling all PFS related mail and sorting the rest in the mail room mailboxes. This duty may be shared at the discretion of the PFS Director and Manager, with Patient Account Advocates.
9. Other duties as assigned.
10. A seasoned cashier may be asked to see patients. This will be at the PFS Director’s discretion.

Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
