Description
Essential Functions:
- Conduct physical and psychological assessments of clients and develop or follow a treatment plan.
- Assess home and work environments of clients and decide what adjustments are needed.
- Advise on adaptive equipment to help clients with daily activities.
- Develop physical rehabilitation programs to help clients regain lost skills.
- Prepare clients for a return to work.
- Educate caregivers and family members of clients’ patient care.
- Evaluate results and progress of occupational therapy clients.
- Maintain professional knowledge and the technical progress in order to provide clients with the best treatment program available.
- Comply with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
- Evaluate patient condition regarding physical and basic mental health.
Skills Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
- Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
- Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association).
- Certified by the National Board for Certification. Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs.
Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience
- Experience in healthcare setting.
