Essential Functions:

• Relays information to the Chief Nursing Officer on all patient care problems relating to daily operations of the hospital impacted by his/her area of responsibility.
• Accepts responsibility and accountability for NRMC procedures and policies in the resolution of services provided by the Emergency Department to include staffing, utilization of hospital facilities, equipment, supplies, and quality of customer care.
• Assures NRMC’s Emergency Department compliance with all Federal, State and other governing entities requirements/regulations.
• Responsible for evaluating and implementing workflow to attain standards of quality and appropriateness of healthcare delivery in assigned areas.
• Implements the NRMC vision, mission, philosophy, evidence based practice, and standards in assigned areas. He/she leads, evaluates, and encourages leadership development, policy development, and decision-making among staff.
• In conjunction with other department heads, responsible for assessing and developing new programs that would enhance patient safety, quality care and family/patient involvement.
• Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Skills Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
• Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
• Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.

Physical Demands:

• Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 12 hours or longer per day.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements:

• Current and valid Missouri Registered Professional Nurse license.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS upon hire and maintain.
• Previous critical care (ICU or ER) experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
• Two (2) years of Emergency Department experience.
• Two (2) years supervisory experience in an acute care setting.
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
