Pay: Base wage starting at $15.15; increased based on experience

Summary of Duties:
As a health information clerk, also known as a medical records clerk, you are responsible for compiling, coding, organizing, and evaluating patient medical records. You use a variety of different indices, classification systems, and storage retrieval systems to organize medical records so that they can quickly and efficiently be retrieved when needed. You will also check medical records and charts for correctness and completeness. Other common job tasks include creating a new medical record or chart for newly-admitted patients and closing records upon a patient's discharge.
Essential Functions:
1.Responsible for purging old medical records in accordance with regulations accurately and completely.
2.Assist with Insurance/HEDIS request for Medical Records.
3.Assist with deficiency analysis/on hold report/chart reviews as needed.
4.Assist with phones, walk-in customers as needed.
5.Assist in completing departmental tasks in the absence of employees, specifically health record analysts.
6.Participates in professional/personal development as evidenced by interdepartmental in-services, performance improvement and facility wide in-services and mandatory meetings.
7.Follows NRMC Code of Behaviors regarding attitude, appearance, customer service, communication, and confidentiality.
8.Performs other special projects or duties as assigned by the Director of the department.
9.Meets Departmental established productivity standards.

Qualifications:
1.High School Diploma.
2.Clerical experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Experience in a hospital setting with prior Health Information Management preferred.
