Essential Functions:
- Evaluate the living skills and capabilities of physically, developmentally, and emotionally disabled patients.
- Assist in the selection of activities and the development of treatment plans to help patients function independently.
- Observe, monitor, and record patients progress, attitudes, and behavior.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards patients and the treatment programs.
- Instruct patients and their families in-home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
- Help patients with dressing and grooming, and using specially designed hairbrushes and cosmetic applicators.
- Perform basic administrative tasks, such as answering phones and making appointments.
- Perform routine tasks, such as helping patients perform stretches and teaching patients to use specific equipment.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as special lifts or pulleys to move patients.
- Repair assistive devices and make changes to equipment and environments.
- Provide feedback to superiors, and recommending changes to their treatment plans.
Skills Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
- Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
- Ability to prioritize and compete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills
- Perceptive about others reactions and have good critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Social perceptiveness and persuasion skills.
- Good critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Working Conditions:
- Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
- Exposure to distressed patients, families, or visitors.
Physical Demands:
- Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Occupational Therapy
- Physical stamina to lift and assist patients through physical activities.
- Willingness to continue your education
- A license and certification to practice therapy
- 2+ years of experience
- Experience in Healthcare setting
